A method (100), in a user device, for obtaining media content to be consumed by a user is disclosed. The method comprises receiving, using a first communication protocol, encrypted media content from a device on which the media content is stored (110); requesting, using a second communication protocol, authorisation from a content provider to consume the received encrypted media content (150); and receiving, using the second communication protocol, authorisation from the content provider to consume the received encrypted media content (190), wherein the authorisation comprises a content key for decrypting the received encrypted media content. Also disclosed is a method (200), in a user device, for sharing media content to a target user device. The method comprises retrieving the media content from a memory in the user device (220), wherein the retrieved media content is encrypted with a content specific key; processing the retrieved media content by encrypting the retrieved media content with at least part of a local key (230), wherein the at least part of a local key is unique to a user device; and sending the processed media content to the target user device using a first communication protocol (240). A method (300) for managing distribution of media content between devices is also disclosed, the method comprising receiving, using a second communication protocol, a request for authorisation to consume encrypted media content from a user device (360), wherein the encrypted media content has been received by the user device using a first communication protocol;retrieving a content key for decrypting the encrypted media content (370); and sending, using the second communication protocol, authorisation to consume the encrypted media content to the user device (380), wherein the authorisation comprises the retrieved content key.
