PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide carbon fiber for obtaining fiber-reinforced resin having high mechanical properties.SOLUTION: Provided is carbon fiber in which the phase image obtained by measuring the surface of single fiber of carbon fiber with a scanning probe microscope satisfies the following conditions: the phase image has no grooves with a length of 600 nm or higher elongating to the longitudinal direction of the carbon fiber; grooves with a length of 30 to 200 nm elongating to the longitudinal direction of the carbon fiber are plurally present in the phase image; where, the grooves of the phase image denote the parts free from the change of the phase image in the direction vertical to the fiber axis.SELECTED DRAWING: Figure 1 |
