Method of operating a steering device with a device for increasing the steering effort

The operating method uses a sensor for detecting a mechanical parameter of the steering device, supplied to a control unit for controlling an electric motor for direct or indirect operation of the steering rod. The control unit has a processor module providing an electrical parameter for the electric motor dependent on the mechanical parameter, with control of the motor using corresponding constants and control data for the motor provided by a memory module. An Independent claim for a servo-assisted steering device for an automobile is also included.
