PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a method for manufacturing a metal sintered compact and an alloy sintered compact which are used for a tool material for working and a turbine for a boiler in a thermal field. SOLUTION: In this manufacturing method, when manufacturing a metal or an alloy by sintering, powder of the metal and powder of the alloy are subjected to preforming. The resultant preform is enveloped in a capsule made of metal to which an exhaust tube is attached, and the capsule is set in a furnace. While depressurizing the inside of the capsule via the exhaust tube from the outside of the furnace, the inside of the furnace is kept at an atmospheric pressure and temperature raising is done up to a prescribed sintering temperature to carry out sintering, or, after the temperature raising, sintering is performed under a low pressure of 0.08 to 5 MPa.
