PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an automatic announcing device for a passenger conveyor capable of announcing aural guide over a public address system by merely performing simple and additional construction work on an existing passenger conveyor. SOLUTION: This automatic guiding device for the passenger conveyor is provided with a first optical sensor 13 and a second optical sensor 14 arranged at positions where step main bodies 6a of steps 6 moving continuously on the same locus oppose, and at an interval in the direction of moving of the step main body 6a and an auto announce panel 11 having a moving direction determining circuit for determining the direction of moving from outputs of the first and second optical sensors 13, 14 and a voice control circuit for announcing the aural guide suitable for the direction of moving determined by the moving direction determining circuit.
