PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To enable to record an image at a suitable timing by suppressing variation of period of a recording timing signal even when the period of a printing clock signal formed in accordance with a conveying operation of a conveying means is changed. SOLUTION: Among the printing clock signals synchronously generated to the conveying operation of the conveying means for conveying a recording medium to an image recording position, the weighted mean value of respective periods (printing frequencies) of the newest clock signal and one or a plurality of clock signals generated before the newest clock signal and continue to the newest clock signal is calculated, and a recording timing signal which is a reference when the image is recorded on the recording medium at the image recording position is formed so that the calculated weighted mean value becomes one period.
