<p><P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a step device for a platform capable of accurately detecting the presence/absence of passengers on a step for a long time. <P>SOLUTION: The step device 1 for the platform preventing the passenger from falling down to a space between the platform and a stopping vehicle, comprises a case 2 which can be embedded, a step 7 supported by the case 2, and drive means 17, 18, 19 relatively moving the step 7 to the case 2 so as to advance/retract the step 7 to/from the vehicle side.
