PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a lighting apparatus having a backlight structure which illuminates a liquid display panel from a rear surface and can realize a high luminance and a high uniformity and a long service life. SOLUTION: The lighting apparatus 1 is composed of a plurality of light guide plates 6a to 6e arranged on a light receiving surface side of a FP and cold cathode tubes 2b to 2e arranged closer to a rear surface side than a light emitting surface of the light guide plates of the light receiving surface side. Furthermore, the light apparatus 1 is provided with reflectors 4b to 4e attached on the cold cathode tubes 2b to 2e and on an opposite side of the light receiving surface.
