A retention member holds a pen received in the inner space of a unit body through the opening. A driving mechanism applies a driving force to the pen to direct the pen toward the opening. A narrowed path member is placed within the inner space at a position spaced from a large-diameter member of the pen between the large-diameter member and the opening when the retention member holds the pen. The large-diameter member expands outward from the outer peripheral surface of the pen by a predetermined amount. The narrowed path member receives contact of the large-diameter member when the pen is released from the retention member. The narrowed path member allows the large-diameter member to pass therethrough. The narrowed path member inevitably contacts with the large-diameter member, resulting in restriction of the movement of the pen.
