A filter assembly 100 for a household water filtration apparatus, and a method for filtering water using a household water filtration apparatus are provided. The filter assembly comprises a through-flow cartridge 102, which has an accessible cavity 112. The through-flow cartridge is adapted for reception in a household water filtration apparatus. The filter assembly further comprises filtration media, which is removably receivable in the accessible cavity. A filter packet may be provided in the cartridge, and the cartridge may be deposited in a household water filtration apparatus. Advantageously, the filter assembly may be fabricated using polylactic acid. |
