<P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a method of manufacturing an electrode catalyst layer for a fuel cell in which a non-platinum catalyst of oxide base is especially used as a catalyst material, for a high power generation characteristic. <P>SOLUTION: An electrode catalyst layer 2 or 3 contains a polymer electrolyte, catalyst material, and carbon particles, with a specific surface area of the catalyst material being smaller than carbon particle, and is manufactured by following steps (1)-(4): step (1) a catalyst material encapsulated with a first polymer electrolyte is formed, step (2) a carbon particle encapsulated with a second polymer electrolyte is formed, step (3) a catalyst ink is prepared in which the catalyst material encapsulated with the first polymer electrolyte, the carbon particle encapsulated with the second polymer electrolyte, and a third polymer electrolyte are diffused in a solvent, and step (4) the catalyst ink is applied on a base material selected from among a gas diffusion layer, a transfer sheet, and a polymer electrolyte membrane, to form an electrode catalyst layer. <P>COPYRIGHT: (C)2012,JPO&INPIT |
