The device has a driving device (2) for a rotary drive of an optical eyeglass lens (1) and with a spraying nozzle (3) for spraying aerosol (4) on the optical lens. The spraying nozzle has a valve (6) for supplying water and another valve (5) for supplying air as carrier for water. The spraying nozzle mixes the water and the gas to form the aerosol in volume ratio of 500:1 to 2000:1. The spraying nozzle directs the aerosol in a jet towards the optical lens and directs aerosol jet against rotating/turning direction of the optical lens. An independent claim is also included for a method for cleaning an optical lens.
