PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To inspect automatically welding quality in a welding process. SOLUTION: In this welding/inspection method, a plurality of piled metal plates 2-1, 2-2 are welded, and a probe 6 for inspecting welding quality is temporarily placed on the periphery of a spot-welding area 33 on the metal plate surface, and ultrasonic waves are made to enter the boundary surfaces of a plurality of metal plates 2-1, 2-2 via the probe 6 from an oblique direction, to thereby inspect the spot-welding area 33. The method has a probe inspection step of inspecting, prior to the execution of welding, irrespective of whether the probe 6 is normal, a welding execution step of executing welding when the probe 6 is normal, and an inspection step of inspecting quality of the welding quality, after the execution of welding.
