Disclosed is a polyvinyl alcohol film which is useful for producing a polarizing film having only a few wrinkles. The polyvinyl alcohol film is an optical film which uses a polyvinyl alcohol resin as a main raw material. The inclination of the optical axis in the film width direction is 45-135° with respect to the film length direction over the entire width of the film. The polyvinyl alcohol film may have a limiting drawing ratio of more than 6.0 but not more than 8.0, and a swelling elongation ratio of about 100-124%. |
