The invention relates to a sound-damping or sound-absorbing composite material (10) comprising particles (14) embedded in a viscoelastic material (12), wherein the viscoelastic material (12) is either embedded as a middle layer between two layers comprising a casing material (16), wherein the modulus of elasticity of the particles (14) is greater than the effective modulus of elasticity of the casing material (16), and the modulus of elasticity of the casing material (16) is greater than the effective modulus of elasticity of the viscoelastic material (12), or is embedded in the form of a multiplicity of cells in a matrix material, wherein the cells optionally comprise a shell material, wherein the modulus of elasticity of the particles (14) is greater than the effective modulus of elasticity of the viscoelastic material (12), and the modulus of elasticity of the particles (14) is greater than the effective modulus of elasticity of the matrix material. Further aspects of the invention concern the use of the composite material (10) and a method for producing the latter. |
