PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide methods of improving stress responses in a plant to environmental stresses, including drought, salinity, low light, water logging, disease, pests, and temperature.SOLUTION: A method of improving stress responses in a plant comprises contacting a part of a seed or plant, or a locus thereof, with a mixture of condensed hydrocarbons, lignins, and tannins and/or condensed tannins so as to up-regulate or down-regulate plant genes.SELECTED DRAWING: None |
