PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide nickel powder improved in sinterability, suppressed in catalyst activity and excellent in de-binding properties by increasing the shrinkage starting temperature upon sintering of powder.SOLUTION: Provided is nickel powder in which a covering layer including a sulfur compound is formed on the surfaces of nickel particles, in which the sulfur compound being the form of the sulfate of nickel or the sulfate and sulfide, and also, 30 atom% or higher of the sulfur to be incorporated being sulfate. In the nickel powder, the content of oxygen is 0.5 to 2 mass%, and also, specific surface area in accordance with BET method measurement is 5 m/g or lower.SELECTED DRAWING: None |
