A sheet medium processing device comprises a base (1) and an upper cover (2). The upper cover (2) is pivotally connected to the base (1) via a rotating shaft (20), and can be opened or closed relative to the base (1). The sheet medium processing device further comprises an upper cover support mechanism (5). The upper cover support mechanism (5) comprises a support member (51) switchable between a first state and a second state. If the upper cover (2) is closed relative to the base (1), the support member (51) is in the first state, and if the upper cover (2) is opened at a set angle relative to the base (1), the support member (51) is in the second state. If the support member (51) is in the first state, the support member (51) is attached to an outer surface of the upper cover (2), and if the support member (51) is in the second state, at least a part of the support member (51) is separated from the outer surface of the upper cover (2) to support the upper cover (2). The sheet medium processing device does not tip over when the upper cover (2) is opened, thus avoiding a device damage caused thereby. |
