PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a photographic element having excellent photographic sensitivity, in which each dye-forming silver halide emulsion layer shows water swelling rate with adequate balance. SOLUTION: This photographic element consists of a supporting body and plural dye-forming hydrophilic colloid silver halide emulsion layers, including at least one blue sensitive emulsion layer, at least one green sensitive emulsion layer and at least one red sensitive emulsion layer, which are spectrally sensitized in regions of different visible spectra. Each of such a silver halide emulsion layer contains an image-forming silver salt containing at least 25 wt.% of ultra- thin planer particles having less than 0.07μm thickness. One of the silver halide emulsion layers is the outermost silver halide emulsion layer which has a largest water swelling rate than any other photosensitive emulsion layers.
