PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To automatically set the extraction conditions of an object regardless of photography environments and the features of the object. SOLUTION: The luminance signal and the color difference signal of only the object are stored into a color information storage memory 12, and an extraction condition setting means 13 sets the extraction conditions for extracting the object based on the luminance signal and color difference signal of only the object. A binarization means 14 outputs a binary signal corresponding to a photographed image, where the object is photographed based on the set extraction conditions, and a selection means 15 selects the photographed image of the object or a background image used for a composite image stored in a background image memory 11, based on the binary signal.
