PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To obtain a stepping motor driver that is simple in structure and inexpensive and that has a function of highly-accurate micro-step drive. SOLUTION: This drive unit is provided with a current control function, which controls a motor current according to a current command, and an angle detection function, which detects rotor magnetic pole angles. An angle deviationε, a difference between an angle commandθ* and a rotor magnetic pole angleθf, is calculated using the angle commandθ* given to an angle command input terminal and the rotor magnetic pole angleθf detected by the angle detection function. A value obtained by correcting the angle commandθ* with a value of the angle deviation times a coefficient and with a value of time differentiated value of the angle deviation times the coefficient is used as an excitation angle command.
