PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a pressure-sensitive adhesive which exhibits a sufficient adhesive power by applying pressure as much as finger pressure, has an excellent adhesivity and particularly excellent heat resistance and mechanical strength and its pressure-sensitive adhesive sheet. SOLUTION: The pressure-sensitive adhesive is a polyester-based resin [I] obtained by polycondensating (A) a dicarboxylic acid component containing (a1) an aromatic dicarboxylic acid, (B) a diol component containing (b1) a glycol having hydrocarbon groups in the side chains and (C) (c1) a not less than trihydric polyhydric alcohol and/or (c2) a not less than trihydric polyhydric carboxylic acid. The polyester-based resin [I] contains 0.1-5 mol% of a structural region derived from (C) (c1) the not less than trihydric polyhydric alcohol and/or (c2) the not less than trihydric polyhydric carboxylic acid.
