PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a pharmaceutical composition alleviating hyperuricemia and to provide the use thereof in the preparation of a medicament. SOLUTION: For example, the pharmaceutical composition for treating the hyperuricemia is provided. The composition comprises (-)4-chlorophenyl-(3-trifluoromethylphenoxy)acetic acid which is the (-)stereoisomer or a pharmaceutically acceptable salt or an ester prodrug thereof and the (-)stereoisomer of the compound is substantially free of the (+)stereoisomer of the compound.
