PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To improve the measurement accuracy of a chest wall defect amount and to automate measurement in a chest wall defect amount measurement method. SOLUTION: The phantom 100 has a reference plane 112 for positioning to be abutted to the chest wall abutting surface 212 of an imaging table 210 for the radiography of breasts, a pattern region where a radiation transmission amount is changed according to a prescribed rule in a direction vertical to the reference plane 112 and a reference marker provided on a prescribed position. The phantom 100 is mounted on the imaging table 210, the radiography is performed and fundamental radiation image of the phantom is obtained. Thereafter, by using a radiation image for an inspection obtained by performing the radiography of the phantom, a magnifying power is obtained, the position of the phantom is detected from the position of the reference marker recorded in the radiation image for the inspection, a calculation region corresponding to the pattern region in the radiation image for the inspection is determined on the basis of the position of the phantom, and the chest wall defect amount is obtained from the change of the radiation transmission amount according to the prescribed rule obtained for the calculation region.
