The invention relates to hepatology and concerns the way to predict development of disease in case of chronic viral hepatitis C. A method provides for determining body mass index (BMI) of a patient, establishment of genotype of hepatitis C virus (HCV genotype) and a level of histological activity index (HAI) and calculation of the sum of I - regression (z) equation and II - the prognosis of recovery (p) equation relationship.
