PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a three-dimensional (3D) position/attitude recognition apparatus which is capable of recognizing a 3D position/attitude of a target through image analysis of an edge portion in simple configuration, a 3D position/attitude recognition method and a 3D position/attitude recognition program.

SOLUTION: A 3D position/attitude recognition apparatus comprises: detection means 4 which detects the direction of an edge in a target 1 by analyzing image elements of the target 1 captured in at least either a first image or a second image; determination means 5 which determines whether to change a relative position between at least either first imaging means 2 or second imaging means 3 and the target 1 on the basis of a detection result; and moving means 6 which moves at least either the first imaging means 2 or the second imaging means 3 relatively to the target 1.
