A location tracking system includes a first plurality of signal receiving and transmitting devices, the members of the first plurality each include an RF transceiver, sound receivers and sound emitters. A second plurality of signal transmitting units, the members of the second plurality each include at least an RF transceiver and a sound emitter. A system control element in communication with the members of the first plurality wherein the control element determines the locations of members of the second plurality based, at least in part, on information received from members of the first plurality.

1. A system comprising:
a plurality of devices, each of which can transmit at least one of a location identifier or location information and wherein at least some of the devices can receive RF and sound signals; a determination element, coupled to members of the plurality, the element receives transmitted location information from the devices; a plurality of units which transmit identification information wherein members of the plurality of devices which receive the identification information from at least one unit can transmit both unit identification information and unit related location information to the determination element, which, responsive to received unit identification and location information from members of the plurality of devices determines the location of the unit relative to those devices.
