PURPOSE: A controlling method of an inverter refrigerator is provided to sense the contact defectives between a brushless direct current motor and an inverter and to warn the connection defectives. CONSTITUTION: The controlling method of an inverter refrigerator having a brushless direct current motor(30) comprises the steps of:step-driving the brushless direct current motor; judging if the rotating number of the brushless direct current motor is out of the range of the lowest limit and the upper limit; and abnormal state warning if the counted rotating number of the brushless direct current motor is over a standard number by counting the number after stopping the brushless direct current motor if the rotating number of the brushless direct current motor is over the upper limit.
