PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a thermal printer capable of saving the use of a golden color ribbon. SOLUTION: A spot color setting screen is indicated on a display of a personal computer. A check box as a print head designating means and a metallic color box as a superposing printing data designating means are provided in the spot color setting screen. The print data indicated on the display is printed by means of the print head designated by the print head designating means and the print data designated by the superposing printing data designating means in a region designated by a superposing printing region designating means is printed by means of two print heads 15, 16.
