PURPOSE: A plasma display panel and a method for driving the same are provided to reduce the power consumption required for the address operation by reducing the capacitive load between the electrodes. CONSTITUTION: A plasma display panel includes a plasma panel, a controller, an address data driver(300), a sustain electrode driver and a scan electrode driver. The plasma panel is provided with a plurality of address electrodes, a plurality of scan electrodes and a plurality of sustain electrodes. The controller outputs the scan electrode driving signal, the sustain electrode driving signal and the address electrode driving signal by receiving the image signals and outputs the control signal to float at least one scan electrode except the scan electrode to perform the write operation during the address period. The address data driver applies the voltage corresponding to the address electrode driving signal to the address electrodes. The sustain electrode driver applies the voltage corresponding to the sustain electrode driving signal to the sustain electrode driver. And, the scan electrode driver floats at least one scan electrode except the scan electrode to perform the write operation during the address period by switching in response to the control signal. |
