PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an electrolyte having high solubility to organic solvents and high dielectric strength and electrical conductivity. SOLUTION: The invention provides a quaternary ammonium salt expressed by formula (1) (R1is a 1-4C straight-chain or branched alkyl; R2to R4are each a 1-4C straight-chain or branched alkyl; either two groups among R2, R3and R4may form a ring; and X-is PF6-), an electrolytic solution containing the ammonium salt and an electrochemical device using the electrolytic solution.
