A method for processing an event of a navigation system is provided to reduce input error of a user by differently setting a magnitude of a button image and an event covering range of the button image. An event processing range of respective button images, which are formed on a touch screen, is set(S101). When a user presses a specific button on the touch screen, an event is generated corresponding to the specific button(S103,S105). Next, coordinates of the specific button are identified(S107). The coordinates and the event processing range are compared, the generated event is processed or cancelled based on whether the coordinates are within the event processing range(S109-S113).
