PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a remote control system capable of more inexpensively and easily discriminating an effective operation button. SOLUTION: A DVD player 1 includes: a button data file 19A for storing the operation state of the DVD player 1 and effective button information on an operation button 241 to be effectively functioned in the operation state to be made correspond to each other; an extraction program 19B for making a CPU 17 extract the effective button information from the button data file 19A on the basis of the operation state of the DVD player 1; and a notification program 19C for making it transmit the effective button information to a remote controller 2. It further includes a lighting part 242 for lighting the operation button 241, a reception part 21 for receiving the effective button information transmitted from the DVD player 1 and a lighting control program 29C for making a CPU 27 control the lighting part 242 so as to light the operation button 241 to effectively function according to the effective button information received by the reception part 21.
