A method for informing the arrival of an additional message in a mobile communication system and an apparatus thereof are provided to transmit all of the messages which will be sent to a user to him/her through an assigned traffic channel. Originating-side/destination-side base stations(105, 135) perform communication with calling/called mobile communication terminals(100, 140). The base stations control a wireless link and a wired link, and perform the hand-off function for maintaining the continuity of communication even when a subscriber is moving. Originating-side/destination-side mobile switching centers(110, 130) perform the network link each other, and perform an inquiry for the subscriber through a home location register(115). The mobile switching centers transmits a short message to a message center(120) when the message is received.
