<P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a display device with ambient light sensing. <P>SOLUTION: The display device comprises an illumination source, a display modulator for modulating the light provided by the illumination source, a light sensor arrangement for detecting a light level, and a processor for processing signals received from the light sensor arrangement. The light sensor arrangement comprise a plurality of light sensors spaced from each other, and each light sensor is exposed to ambient light. The processor is adapted to process signals of the plurality of light sensors such that localized shielding of the ambient light at the location of one or more of the light sensors is identified, and to derive an estimate value of the ambient light level. <P>COPYRIGHT: (C)2009,JPO&INPIT |
