PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a method of promoting germination of plant seeds by applying a composition containing an anthraquinone derivative derived from Polygonaceae plant to plant seeds.SOLUTION: There is provided a method for promoting germination of plant seeds by applying a composition containing one or more anthraquinone derivative such as physcion and/or emodin derived from Fallopia sachalinensis which is Polygonaceae plant and optionally a seed coating agent with the amount effective to promote germination of seeds of crops such as plant, for example fruits (e.g. strawberry), vegetables (e.g. tomato, pumpkin, mustard, eggplant) or cereals (e.g. soybean, wheat, rice, corn), trees, flowers, foliage plants, shrubs (e.g. cotton, rose), bulb plants (e.g. onion, garlic) or vines (e.g. vine of grape).SELECTED DRAWING: None |
