PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To surely prevent an accident as a drive transmission system is broken by providing a torque limiter on the drive transmission system between a driving means and a pressing means. SOLUTION: When the operation of raising and lowering a pressing means (sheet push-up member) 116 is performed by transmitting the driving force of a driving means (drive motor) 102 to a sector gear by a drive transmission system, the rising and falling motion of the sheet push-up member 116 are detected by a lower sensor 118 and an upper sensor 122 to start and stop the drive motor 102. However, when the rotation of the drive motor 102 is continued by any cause, the gear or sheet push-up member 116 might be broken by the rotation of the drive motor 102. The rotating force of a shaft 108 rotating in the state where the sheet push-up member 116 is in contact with a part of a sheet feeder 100 is prevented from transmitting an excessive driving force to a minor diameter gear 110 by a torque limiter 109, and the breakage of a part such as gear constituting the drive transmission system can be surely prevented.
