The invention relates to a method for producing an absorbent material from at least one plant material and to an absorbent material produced by said method. The invention further relates to uses of the absorbent material and to an apparatus comprising at least one device for grinding grains. The method according to the invention comprises the following steps: grinding whole cereal grains; extruding the ground cereal grains to give spheres; and grinding the spheres to give the absorbent material. The absorbent material produced by the method according to the invention is purely plant-based, clumps well and can be used to bind liquids to be disposed of, such as oils, solvents, animal excrements or like material, rapidly and in large amounts. |
