The present invention relates to a method and device for determining an emergency braking situation of a vehicle. More specifically, the method for determining an emergency braking situation of a vehicle, comprises: (a) a step of recognition, wherein a sensor part recognizes an obstruction that exists around a vehicle by a sensor part; (b) a step of calculation, wherein a risk index calculating part calculates a risk index based on the obstruction recognized by the sensor part; (c) a step of correction, wherein a risk index correcting part corrects the calculated risk index by reflecting variable elements of the vehicle or a collision avoidance attempt by a driver; and (d) a step of determination, wherein an emergency braking situation determining part determines whether the corrected risk index exceeds a preset emergency braking risk index. According to the present invention, since an emergency braking situation is determined by reflecting not only an obstruction around a vehicle but also a collision avoidance attempt by a driver, and variable elements of the vehicle, such as the weight of the vehicle, the speed of the vehicle, the pressure of tires, and the pressure of a brake, the emergency braking situation may accurately be determined. In addition, since the risk index, which can predict collision possibility, is calculated by utilizing a relative distance between the vehicle and the obstruction, estimated time of a collision between the vehicle and the obstruction, the current speed of the vehicle, the reaction time of the driver, the reaction time of a brake system, the frictional coefficient of a road, and a Hill coefficient., the emergency braking situation may accurately be determined, thereby preventing a collision accident caused by unnecessary emergency braking, and the consumption of fuel. |
