RISER DEFLECTION MITIGATION

Techniques and systems to reduce deflection of a riser (12) extending from offshore platform (10). A riser (12) may include an outer enclosure. This outer enclosure may be coupled to a current deflector (22). The current deflector (22) is configured to generate a lift on the riser in response to a fluid flowing across the current deflector (22). This lift that is generated by the current deflector (22) may counteract currents (20) or other factors to mitigate deflection in the riser.
