PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an operation method of a dust collector capable of hygienically treating impurities so that hardly decomposable fiber etc., are contained into sewage, by adequately washing the impurities collected with a cylindrical screen with use of the sewage. SOLUTION: During a normal washing process, a gate plate of a gate 7 is kept in an opened state so that a close operation of the gate plate is not performed at a retreating time of a plunger 5, and a process for performing a close operation of the gate plate of the gate 7 at the next retreating time of the plunger 5 is adequately applied, thus the washing force with respect to the impurities is changed. Then, the impurities collected with the cylindrical screen 4 are adequately washed with use of the sewage.
