PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a brake cylinder easily returned into an initial state from the projecting length adjusted state of a push rod. SOLUTION: The brake cylinder 1 for use in a braking device for a vehicle comprises a piston 3 moving relative to a cylinder body 2; a shaft rod 4 moving with the piston 3; and the push rod 5 mounted on the shaft rod 4; and a projecting length adjusting means 6 adjusting the projecting length of the push rod 5 from the cylinder body 2 in brake operation. The push rod 5 is formed in cylinder shape having an axial hole extending parallel with the moving direction of the piston 3 and provided with an internal thread 51 threaded at least at a part of the inner surface of the axial hole. The shaft rod 4 is provided with an external thread 41 threaded at least at a part of an outer surface and screwed with the internal thread 51. The shaft rod 4 is screwed in the axial hole and has an engaging part 42 that can be engaged with a turning force imparting means for imparting turning force around an axis from the outside.
