A main muffler of a vehicle is provided to improve the power output of an engine by decreasing low-frequency exhaust noise effectively and restraining an increase of back pressure, to exclude the use of a sound absorbing material, and to reduce the weight of a muffler and to cut down on the cost. A main muffler of a vehicle comprises two baffles(2a,2b) attached integrally at the appointed interval to mark off the inside of a closed housing(1) into a front chamber(3a), a central chamber(3b) and a rear chamber(3c) and provided with many perforated holes, an exhaust gas inlet pipe(4) provided with perforated holes(4a) connected with the front chamber and installed to be extended to the central chamber by passing through the first baffle, an exhaust gas outlet pipe(6) extended to the outside of the housing by passing through the two baffles in order from the front chamber, an intermediate pipe(5) extended to the rear chamber by passing through the two baffles from the front chamber, and an on-off valve(8) opening and closing an outlet of the inlet pipe according to the pressure of exhaust gas. |
