摘要 PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide porous ceramics useful as a water-quality purification element, having microorganism supporting ability, and also having continuous pores (tunnel structure) having an opening on the surface, and to provide a method for producing porous ceramics by using volcanic ash and waste glass as raw materials.SOLUTION: The porous ceramics having continuous pores (tunnel structure) with the pore size of 10 nm to several tens μm having an opening on the surface are obtained by heating, partially melting, fine powder having the blending ratio by weight: volcanic ash:waste glass=6:1 to 4:3. In the method for producing porous ceramics, a raw material having the blending ratio by weight: volcanic ash:waste glass=6:1 to 4:3 is finely crushed until the particle size becomes several μm or smaller, mixed and homogenized, and then stored in a container such as a crucible, and the container is lidded, thereafter the raw material in the container is heated at 750-1,100°C for 30-90 minutes in the air to melt it partially, and then heating is stopped to cool it naturally.
