PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a printing device and a printing method capable of quickly performing printing processing without any possibility of melting or cutting an ink ribbon during performing full-surface printing.SOLUTION: A printing device 1 includes: a printing mechanism including an ink ribbon for performing printing on a long printing medium; a conveying mechanism for conveying the printing medium and the ink ribbon; a cutting mechanism for cutting the printing medium; and a control unit for controlling, during printing, the printing mechanism and the conveying mechanism so that immediately before conveying by the conveying mechanism is stopped and the printing mechanism is controlled to interrupt printing and/or immediately after interruption, printing dot data per line is divided into at least a first dot group and a second dot group, and printing dot data per line is printed at one time other than immediately before the interruption and/or immediately after the interruption.SELECTED DRAWING: Figure 1 |
