Disclosed are a packet loss counting method and apparatus for a PTN device. The method comprises: using a first memory of a PTN device to store actual sequence values of successively received messages, and using a second memory of the PTN device to store ideal sequence values corresponding to the actual sequence values; by comparing the actual sequence values of the current message and the previous message, judging whether the actual sequence values of the current message increase continuously; if it is judged that the actual sequence values of the current message increase continuously, calculating a packet loss counting value using the actual sequence values output by the first memory and the ideal sequence values output by the second memory; and if it is judged that the actual sequence values of the current message do not increase continuously, judging whether the actual sequence values of a pre-set number of messages which exist continuously do not increase continuously, and calculating the packet loss counting value according to a judgement result. |
