摘要 <P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a magnetic resonance imaging apparatus for obtaining sufficient suppression effect even if a slice thickness is thin. <P>SOLUTION: The magnetic resonance imaging apparatus executes a pulse sequence to make signals of a first substance in a subject smaller than signals of a second substance in the subject. The pulse sequence contains &alpha;&deg; pulse for exciting the substance, a refocusing pulse for refocusing a phase of a spin in a region excited by the &alpha;&deg; pulse, and a readout gradient magnetic field for obtaining magnetic resonance signals from the region. The &alpha;&deg; pulse has a spectrally selective property which makes the horizontal magnetization of the first substance smaller than that of the second substance. The refocusing pulse allows refocusing a phase of a spin of the second substance having a spectrally selective property which suppresses refocusing a phase of a spin of the first substance. <P>COPYRIGHT: (C)2013,JPO&INPIT
