Embodiments of the present invention provide systems, methods, and computer program products for managing requests for acquiring one or more resources in a computing environment. In one embodiment, successful acquisition of the one or more resources is determined. Embodiments of the present invention provide systems, methods, and computer program products for initiating a synchronous request to acquire the one or more resources, responsive to determining that the acquisition of the one or more resources is not successful.

1. A method comprising:
receiving, by one or more computer processors, a first request to acquire one or more resources to perform a primary operation; responsive to determining that the one or more resources have not been pre-acquired, registering, by one or more computer processors, an interest of a first thread of a plurality of threads in the first request using a token, wherein the token manages information associated with the first request and can be accessed by each of the plurality of threads; determining, by one or more computer processors, whether acquisition of the one or more resources is successful; and responsive to determining that the acquisition of the one or more resources is not successful, determining, by one or more computer processors, to initiate a synchronous request to acquire the one or more resources, and unregistering the interest of the first thread of the plurality of threads in the first request.
