PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a bristle material for a brush and a brush that has a soft brush surface, and has moderate firmness and improved bristle steadiness. SOLUTION: This bristle material for a brush is made by connecting synthetic fiber single yarns by applying an adhesive to what is obtained by treating collected yarns of 100 to 500 microns in thickness in which synthetic fiber single yarns of 10 to 70 microns in thickness are collected by a primary twist of 50 to 300 turns/m, and treating a fiber bundle of 200 to 1200 microns in thickness obtained by doubling the collected yarns by a secondary twist of 50 to 300 turns/m. A brush is obtained by bristling this bristle material to a base material.
