Method for making a contactless chip card comprises positioning the chip module (2) and antenna coil (3) between cover sheets (6, 7), in a recess in intermediate sheets (10, 11). They are then foamed (9) in place and the assembly is laminated. The antenna coil is fixed to one of the intermediate sheets before the other is positioned. A carrier sheet is positioned under the intermediate sheets which are secured against sliding before it is applied.
